Why Ireland?

The Health System

Ireland's health care system is modern and efficient. The Health Service Executive (HSE) is responsible for the provision of publicly funded healthcare delivering health and personal social services for everyone living in Ireland.

The vision for the HSE is that ‘Everybody will have easy access to high quality care and services that they have confidence in and staff are proud to provide.’

A survey, commissioned by the HSE in 2007, found that patient satisfaction with the health service was quite high, with 90% of inpatients and 85% of outpatients saying they were satisfied with their treatment. In addition to this, 97% said they were satisfied with the care provided by their GP.

Lifestyle

Ireland is a country steeped in tradition and history with a long established reputation for excellence in education. It has a unique and interesting culture which retains many features of its ancient Celtic origins while also reflecting the influence of other traditions and trends.

Ireland has many miles of unspoiled, rugged coastline. Dwellings range from ancient castles and Georgian mansions to quaint cottages and humble farmhouses.

Ireland is a nation of storytellers. Although Gaeilge is disappearing as a spoken language, its charming rhythms enrich the English of the many writers and storytellers here.

Ireland, the “Emerald Isle,” is a land of beauty and mystery. It has a troubled and turbulent history that has shaped its music, art, dance and literature.

Ireland has a high standard of living and this has made the island attractive to immigrants. Tourism is important to the Irish economy so visitors can expect a friendly welcome from the local people.
